Our Story

watch as AIM Founder, Angie Spackman, tells our story

The Journey

Adullam International Ministries (originally Adullam House) began as a calling on the lives of Pete and Angie Spackman. The Lord brought them from Great Britain to work in the prisons of the USA, Peru, and Russia. As Pete labored to reach thousands of lost men with the Gospel, his wife and children became painfully aware of the plight of inmate’s children - the unseen victims of crime. They soon found themselves fully consumed with the task of giving these children a new start. Through God’s grace and provision, the ministry has grown into a worldwide effort, reaching far beyond anything they could ever have dreamed, and continues to operate with no government funding.

Pete & Angie’s Story

The Dream.

God placed a dream in the hearts of Pete and Angie Spackman. They had been invited to the USA from Great Britain many years earlier to minister in the prisons of Alabama. Overwhelmed by the need to help inmates’ children, a dream began to take shape. They knew that without intervention, many of these children would become inmates themselves. They knew that to raise them in the Gospel was the only answer.

The Miracle.

Stepping out in faith and without any government funding, they began this ministry right in their own home. With the help of their four daughters, they reached out to children living in the most appalling conditions. Soon their home was bursting at the seams. Knowing that there was nowhere else for these children to go, they pressed on. Since that time, with much patience, hard work, and with the help of God’s people, the Spackmans began to build a beautiful facility on an initial 18 acres of donated land.

The Vision.

While praying, God spoke to Pete through the story of King David. The book of Samuel tells how David, afraid and running for his life from King Saul, was led by God to hide in the Cave of Adullam, meaning the refuge. Pete and Angie dreamed of creating such a refuge for these at-risk children, who were almost certainly destined for a life of hopelessness. The Bible tells us that in the Cave of Adullam many who were in distress, in debt or cast out from society hid with David, who trained them. They ultimately became the mightiest fighting army that Israel had ever seen. Pete and Angie’s vision was to see the lives of these vulnerable children rescued and restored in the ‘shelter of Adullam’. And so Adullam House was birthed!

The Reality.

Over the years, the workers, builders, and caregivers have all been volunteers who have given sacrificially to make this dream a reality. God has truly provided every step of the way and Pete and Angie have seen first-hand God take many of the little lives entrusted to their care and make of them great trophies of grace. Beauty from ashes! Children facing the risk of being trapped in generational cycles of crime, poverty, and addiction, raised up in the Gospel of Christ and the love of their Father – It is the only way out.

For some it’s a short-term rescue. For others it will be a brand-new permanent home. Many arrive scarred by poverty, pain, neglect, and abuse. They’ve seen and experienced things no child should; innocent babies living in conditions that are hard to imagine, but that’s their past.

At Adullam House, their future is forever changed. Here they can simply be kids. They find a safe, loving environment and learn a new way of life.

This Dream and Vision of Pete and Angie’s, through many Miracles, has become a Reality.

Today Adullam International Ministries has a global reach and operates non-profits in the US, UK, Moldova, and Kenya, with a further key partnership in Canada. That 18 acres of donated land in Wetumpka Alabama has become 59 acres, Including a school and a church. And we do this debt-free. All praise be to God, our Provider!

It has become so much more than just a rescue plan.

You can’t keep a good man down! After a lifetime of faithfully serving the Lord as President of AIM and preaching in prisons all over the world, Rev. Pete Spackman stepped back and retired from our Board in December of 2022 at the grand old age of 78. Of course he can’t slow down! As Pastor Emeritus he is very active in our Church, alongside our new pastor Jason Selman and still plans to travel and preach when his health allows.

The Future

Our vision has never been small–it has been and remains very large! Our God-given vision is so large that it is impossible, absent His anointing, guidance, and provision! That’s scary, and will test every one of us to our limits, but our God has no limits, and if this vision is from Him, it’s a vision that will surely come to pass!
